ATLANTIC CITY — In a rematch of his disputed, December 2009 majority decision loss in a clash of southpaws, WBC middleweight (160 pounds) king Sergio Martinez used a single, crushing left hook to knock Paul Williams cold at 1:10 of the second round in the first defense of his title in Saturday night’s HBO-televised bout before 5,502 fans at Boardwalk Hall.

The 35-year-old Martinez rose to 46-2-2 and earned his 25th career stoppage and second straight victory to avenge his loss to Williams, when Williams won a bout during which both fighters were dropped in the first round.

“I knew in my heart that Martinez was going to win, but that was one of the greatest knockout punches of another great fighter that I’ve ever seen. That goes back to like Thomas Hearns, Sugar Ray Leonard, Marvin Hagler and Roberto Duran. It was a knockout like some of those knockouts,” said Martinez’s promoter, Lou DiBella, of an ending that conjured memories of Hearns’ sensational second-round stoppage of Duran.

“Williams is a brilliant fighter, and you saw that in the first round. That was a great round, and a hard round to score. But Martinez’s speed and angles and that punch? That punch would have knocked anyone on earth out,” said DiBella.

“If you’re Manny Pacquiao, do you go near him [Martinez]? Do you think that Floyd Mayweather will go near him?” asked DiBella. “I think that Sergio is going to have problems making fights because that’s how f**cking good he is. I want to go wherever we can to make a fight. I know what I’ve got. I’ve got the best fighter in the world.”

Boxing champ Sugar Ray Leonard mixes it up virtual-style in EA SPORTS FIGHT NIGHT Round 4 at E3.

Super Monkey Ball Adventure isn’t all that worthy due to many bugs and other weak points. The minigames, especially cannon, are nice though, especially the last 4 which don’t have excrutiatingly long load times. I have one main strategy that I use for the “last man standing” version, of which needs to be unlocked. I show you it here. I make use of the “boxing glove” as I call it. I also use it to get a harder hit on opponent’s bricks, though this can be a bit tricky. It launches the ball upwards, though it soon disappears through repeated use. I keep all the good stuff low. By doing this, it becomes much harder to knock the castle down to the 4 bricks minimum for the flag to fall, much harder. I protect the boxing glove the most due to it’s effectiveness against the COM players. There’s also a bug – if I’m knocked out, the round won’t continue any further. If a COM gets knocked out, they can still continue on, taking effect during the fighting phase, including the use of items and knocking down bricks. For other details, watch how I do things.
